Christmas Tissue Boxes - Set of 4

Wreath and Ribbon. Every house has one door that gets the good wreath. We painted that wreath: dense evergreen, real weight in the boughs, a wide gold-striped ribbon tied the way a florist ties it rather than the way a bow comes out of a bag. Set on true red so it reads from the far end of a hallway.

Home for Christmas. Nobody's Christmas is one thing. It is the nutcracker somebody's grandmother left, the dog who will not move from the door, the tree that barely fit in the car. We put all of it on a tartan ground, layered the way a mantel actually looks by December 20th.

Christmas Eve. The best part of the season is the walk home. Snow coming down, everyone else's windows lit, the whole street looking like it is keeping a secret. We drew one facade at that exact hour, warm gold behind every pane, navy above.

Christmas Plaid. Some years you want the whole story and some years you want the ribbon it came tied in. Traditional red tartan, green and navy through the weave, one fine gold line to catch the light. It goes with everything already on the table.
