Dapper by Nicolette Mayer — a sumptuous reinterpretation of historic Venetian textile artistry infused with modern glamour, layered texture, and fearless contemporary sophistication.

Inspired by the legendary handcrafted velvets, damasks, and brocades of Renaissance Venice, Dapper pays homage to the extraordinary textile traditions made famous by iconic houses such as Fortuny and Luigi Bevilacqua. Drawing from centuries-old Italian craftsmanship, the collection evokes the grandeur of palazzos lining Venetian canals, richly upholstered salons, candlelit churches, and aristocratic interiors layered with faded opulence.

At its foundation, Dapper begins with authentic historical reference — the scrolling damasks, carved wooden block-print aesthetics, aged pigmentations, and layered woven textures that defined ancient Venetian luxury. From there, the design undergoes a bold process of artistic reinterpretation and re-imagineering, transforming old-world ornament into something undeniably modern, edgy, and fashion-forward.

The pattern itself is intentionally complex and atmospheric:_x000B_ornamental damask motifs dissolve into painterly abstraction, distressed overlays, layered striping, fractured texture, and flashes of unexpected color that feel almost electric against the antiqued grounds. The result is a beautiful tension between heritage and experimentation — regal yet rebellious, refined yet expressive.

Dapper captures the feeling of: worn velvet in a centuries-old Venetian palace, hand-block printed textiles faded by time, oxidized metallic pigments and layered dyes, he glamour of old Europe reinterpreted through a contemporary lens in edgy acidic colors, historic luxury infused with downtown edge.

The distressed surfaces and fragmented details create depth and movement, while vibrant hidden accents — acid chartreuse, cobalt, neon coral, amethyst, citron, sapphire, and ember tones — bring the collection into the present with subtle flashes of modern energy.

The collection feels: opulent yet artistic, intellectual yet daring, collected rather than decorated, moody, layered, and atmospheric, simultaneously masculine and glamorous, historic yet strikingly current.

Perfect for: luxury boutique hotels, fashion-forward hospitality interiors, dramatic dining rooms and cocktail lounges, high-design residences, layered maximalist interiors, velvet upholstery and statement drapery, moody libraries and private clubs, sophisticated wallpaper installations.

Dapper pairs beautifully with: Lacquered woods, antique brass and bronze, cerused oak, smoked mirrors, marble and travertine, Bouclé and velvet upholstery, contemporary sculpture, rich jewel-tone accents, collected European antiques mixed with modern forms

Its nuanced coloration and distressed detailing allow it to function almost like a textured mural or aged textile panel rather than a traditional repeating pattern — creating interiors that feel immersive, curated, and emotionally rich.

Bold, artistic, and deeply luxurious, Dapper is a celebration of Venetian artistry reimagined for modern interiors — timeless craftsmanship transformed through a contemporary, fashion-infused point of view.
